Short-Term Sacrifice, Long-Term Gain: Progress on the Mills Pitches Upgrade
Work is well underway on the €1.3 million upgrade of our pitches at Skerries Town Park aka The Mills. Here's the latest on progress.
Our pitches at Skerries Town Park are in the middle of a major €1.3 million upgrade, funded by Fingal County Council. Work began in June and is now more than three months in, with real progress visible on site.
We know it means reduced pitch capacity for our teams this season — but it's short-term pain for long-term gain. The project is completely overhauling these pitches: new drainage to support play all year round, new 3-metre accessible pathways, improved landscaping across the park and bringing our surfaces up to full FAI standard.
Construction is expected to wrap up this year, followed by a maintenance period to properly establish the new surfaces — meaning our pitches should be back in full use, and ready for every one of our teams, around September next year.
It's a big investment in our club's future, and one worth the wait. Thanks for your patience while we get there.
