ABOUT: Football fanatic since early childhood. Living only a short walk from White Hart Lane, was fortunate to be brought up watching fantastic players like Hoddle, Ardiles, Hughton and Galvin in their prime. Played for many years in schools football, Midlands leagues, Intervarsity, League of Ireland B (with DCU) and finally LSL with Skerries Town, and loved every minute of it.
Brought my eldest son Daniel down to the Kids Academy when he was 4 and was delighted to volunteer a hand alongside Mick Bolger and start into some coaching. Myself and Brian Myles took on an U’9s team a few years later and we’re now into our third season. We’re fortunate to have a great bunch of fun-loving kids and supportive parents and we’re really enjoying watching the boys’ development.

FAVOURITE CLUB: Spurs

BEST GOAL EVER:  Paul Gascoigne (Gazza)’s vs Arsenal in the first Wembley FA Cup Semi Final (1991). Extra special given the opposition who were on course to complete ‘the Double’.

BEST PLAYER EVER: Lionel Messi. Incredible skills, but his fantastic ‘team first’ attitude is an example to footballers young and old at every level of the game.

BEST FOOTBALL MEMORY AS A CHILD: When our U-11 club manager managed to get us a trip to Wembley as a reward for winning a 5-a-side tournament. Had a fantastic day, starting with a tour of the old stadium, but the highlight was definitely getting onto the pitch and taking shots at legendary goalie Ray Clemence (funnily enough I managed to score!)  Ricky Villa’s late winner in the ‘81 Cup Final and being at Spurs’ 84 Uefa Cup Final success were also very special.

ABOUT: I ended up coaching the under  boys 9s team as there were no other parents available at the time. Having only played rugby, and never having played for a football team, I said I would give it a go, but don’t expect too much. Thankfully support came from a number of parents, with each season a roller-coaster of emotions, the high being a league and cup double in 2015.
I then got involved with the girls academy in 2016 and help manage the under 12 girls team.

ABOUT:I got involved with Skerries Town, like most people, through my 3 kids, 2 boys & a girl, who are football mad and are playing for “The Town”.
My in-laws / outlaws have links with the club going back years, running teams, world cup camps, completing referee badges and eventually getting involved with the then Brenfer League so if was only natural that once my kids could kick a ball, I got the call, still remember those faithful words; “come down and help out for 10 minutes”, that’s 5 years ago.
I got my first under9 squad 2 days before that season start and what a rapid learning curve that was but fantastic to watch those kids develop over the years.

ABOUT: Like me, my son is a football fanatic, and it’s great to be involved in his football journey. I watched him in
Little Kickers for a year when he was 3 and then he joined Skerries Towns Kids Academy, which he really
loved. I began my coaching with Skerries in September 2014, the start of his last year of Kids Academy.
In September 2015, myself and Mark Clarke became joint coaches of one of the then under 9’s teams. Its
been great watching the kids develop over the last few years and I really enjoy working with them – they
are a great group of kids.

FAVOURITE CLUB: Manchester United

BEST GOAL EVER:  Eric Cantona’s goal against Sunderland in 1996 – an exquisite lobbed finish but even better was the
celebration! He just stood on that same spot and turned, slowly taking in the atmosphere. It has since
been voted the Premier League’s best celebration since the league began in 1992. Check it out!! (Click to View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpyJtjLoDKg)

BEST PLAYER EVER: Maradona, Pele, Messi, Ronaldo even?? For me it has to be Cantona – his was the last piece in Sir Alex’s
jigsaw and the catalyst for the unprecedented success since then.

BEST FOOTBALL MEMORY AS A CHILD:
Going to my first Ireland match with my dad in 1987 at Lansdowne Road – a European Qualifier against
Bulgaria that we won 2-0 (goals from Paul McGrath and Kevin Moran). The following week a certain Gary
MacKay scored for Scotland as they also beat Bulgaria and Ireland qualified for Euro 88 which was
amazing.
